The Bell Family
If you hear the "Bells", you are probably standing in one of their four successful furniture & mattress stores.
That is… the Bell family:
Claudia (red sweater-middle), Dick (blue shirt -top left) their sons and daughter: Mark (top right), David (lower left) and Jennifer (top right).
You will probably hear of other "Bells" as well. On any given day, family members helping out, or "hanging out" in the store can number up to twelve.
The Bell family recipe for success is tried and true:
"Give customers great selection, great prices, space to make their own choices and then get them their furniture as quickly and conveniently as possible."
The Bell Family opened Reno Gallery of Furniture in 1986, in a Reno location on Gentry Way. They started with a sales and delivery staff which included their family, one more employee and one delivery van.
In 1988, they opened a second store at Sierra Marketplace (South Virginia St. and Moana Lane). This store was located next door to a Levitz Furniture store (a famous furniture chain).
In 1990, they closed their first location on Gentry Way and set about building up their business at the South Virginia Street location.
By 1997, Levitz had left Reno because they were unable to compete in the furniture market. In 1999, the Bell family expanded their business into the Levitz building in order to accommodate all the lines of furniture sold by Reno Gallery. Those lines included Simmons Mattresses in particular.
"Reno Gallery of Furniture is now known to be the largest independent dealer for Simmons in northern Nevada and eastern California. "
Today, with 45 employees, Reno Gallery of Furniture is still considered a small business. In fact, the principals of the corporation come to work at the showroom daily and competitive pricing is all done right on the premises......which is what is expected from customers who want to price-shop in the Reno area.
The Bell family knows that one furniture company cannot carry all lines of furniture for every category. So we select the best furniture from partnerships with key vendors.....
"....only those makers who offer a quality-built product at a fair price, along with consistent timely delivery will be acceptable to the Reno Gallery name."
This careful selecting gives the Bell family a perfect advantage in furniture sales. They can assemble varieties of furniture lines to suit the customers' tastes. This process provides immense flexibility. This allows the Bells to compete with larger furniture chains and competitive pricing.
Co-Owner Mark Bell said:
"We try not to force the customer into anything and we try to make it so they have a lot to choose from."
Reno Gallery has over 72,000 square feet of furniture and mattresses in their four stores combined. While browsing through all of this space, brand names representing hundred of years of quality pass before the customers' eyes: Fairchild leather living room furniture, Trendwood youth bedroom furnishings, Timber Designs and Authentics of Idaho for rustic and lodgepole pine furniture, Simmons Beautyrest mattresses and most recently, Skinner Solid Pine Dining sets with seating for up to 12 people.
Once the furniture is picked out and purchased, how does the customer get it?
The Bell family instituted their own brand of convenient delivery service then gave it a name. It has become so popular that the service is now referred to as a product! It's called:
"Rush-A-Bed"
It is exactly what the name implies. Mark Bell describes it this way:
"Second homeowners in Tahoe/Truckee can pick up the keys to their new mountain home on a Friday, call 'Rush-A-Bed' and stay the weekend because Reno Gallery can, if requested, deliver their furniture that same day."
Has this really happened? Mark Bell says:
"Yes. The Reno Gallery has done it many times over. Sometimes for one or two beds and other times, a truckload of furnishings for the whole house."
Here's how it goes:
"The scheduled delivery day is Monday - South Lake Tahoe and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday -- North Lake Tahoe and Truckee and so on."
And just when it seems too good to be true…the Delivery Charge:
Not a Penny
(*with minimum purchase and within 100-miles of Reno).
Is it any wonder that the Bell family is celebrating their 20th successful year?
"Reno Gallery of Furniture has grown to be the area's largest, family-owned furniture store. It's owners understand that their loyal customers and dedicated employees have gotten them there."
Come See our Store!
Best Wishes,
The Bells
